Seattle Design Festival pop-up

Our Substantial team created a pop-up for the Seattle Design Festival. In a year of stress, separation, and video calls, we wanted to bring people together with simple gratitudes. We came up with the idea of making a series of postcards that people could fill out at the fest. We displayed them for passers-by, and afterwards mailed all the postcards out to their intended people around the city and country. You can view them here!

It was great to be a part of the creative process, and on the technical side I built out our event website. Our design team came with lovely mocks, and I came to them with interactivity in mind. People filling out our sign-up form were greeted with a splash of confetti. 🎉

The React site syncs instantly with Google Sheets, which was perfect for our needs. It also sports custom SVGs and small stylistic touches to the form.

Once we had the postcards scanned, those were interactive too– flipping the card over when you hovered on them. A handy reset button makes viewing all the cards quick and fun.
