From record players and tape decks to digital images, noise is a constant in our lives. I got reeled in by the concept of “colorful noise” from the analogy between light and sound. The pairing of spectrums is a fairly loose one, but something that’s been widely adopted. I gather that the progression of research on sound and light is intertwined, so it only makes sense that we can relate them in this way. This segment is only an introduction to the subject, of course, but I hope it get the wheels turning.
